I hope you a had a great weekend, but more importantly, we have ALOT to discuss in this post. The 2015 Grammy’s were on last night and we have a lot to cover.
Let’s talk performances (we are only discussing my favorites):
Ariana Grande: It was a big year for Ariana. Although she didn’t take home the prize last night, she performed a beautiful song written by One Direction’s Harry Styles called “A Little Bit of Your Heart.” This song is one of my favorites from her album “My Everything.” She looked stunning. Sounded great. Not to mention that two years ago no one knew who she was and actually performed on the red carpet. In two years, she has come a long way. Next year Ariana, next year!
Madonna: …….. I just don’t know what to say. I mean she’s dropping her album next month, but she is just trying TOO HARD to keep up with the kids. Between her red carpet outfit and her constant need for attention, I was just not feeling it. It sounded like they took her CD and pushed play and then turned her mic down to low. However, I did like theatrics of the performance and the concept of her being a matador. Other than that her performance held no water.
Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett: They deserved their win for Best Traditional Pop album. Even though I am not a Gaga fan at ALL, I will never deny her vocal ability. Cheek to Cheek is a great album and is currently sitting in my car. The performance was simple and nice. However, I was not a huge fan of watching Gaga dance around the stage as Tony Bennett just stood there. I thought she was excessive.
Rihanna, Paul McCartney, and Kanye: Wow, what a performance. Someone please go give a high five to Rihanna’s vocal coach. That was the best she has sounded in years. She was serving the vocals last night. Overall, Kanye did just as well and Sir Paul McCartney was killing it too (even if his mic was off). Loved the performance.
Katy Perry: Bland. Loved the poetry before. Bland.
Sia: I had to do a double take atleast five times. Kirsten Wiig? What? Who knew? She was great and so was Maddie Ziegler. Loved it.
Beyoncé: Ok so before I delve into this, let’s talk about the elephant in the room. SHE LOST ALBUM OF THE YEAR TO BECK! What the Heck? I consider myself to be a seasoned pro at these events and the industry, but even I didn’t know who Beck was. I was with Kanye 100%. The Grammy’s shamelessly promoted Beyoncé, but snubbed her once again. She had one of the best album roll outs I have ever seen without even promoting it. 2014 was the year of Bey and that should have been recognized. The Academy screwed up. If I was there, I would have pulled a Kanye too. Craziness!
Ok onto her performance. She looked like Jesus. The all white. The choir. Everything about it just screamed YES!!! She did great and that’s all that matters.
Wish I could review more, but that’s all for now.
Until next time,
